To all JK relay team participants:-  (Scroll down for results).

Apologies for not writing sooner.  It was basically what we expected lots of fun with our teams performing as expected.  With five teams in the top ten and our girls team just slightly over age and therefore declared non-comp. but well up there with their times.

We tried some cunning tactics this year mixing up ages in order to try to enter a few teams at the younger end of the age categories and although this meant there were some ‘pressure legs’ for those setting off knowing their team could be well up there this all added to the excitement for those watching and taking part.  The “shooting stars” were in fact just that not being too far off the pace at all. The “rockets” and “comets” also made the expected swifts starts with other team members then running their socks off – yes, even after Craig-a-Barns! The Hindle “stars” shone and the “Milky Way” team had a sweet start with 1st leg run at great speed which put the remaining team members under healthy pressure - Rae was chased by Carol McNeil and other mere youngsters who appeared scared of the MDOC team which caused some fun. Hazel and Marie were able to set off their veteran women teams close together.  “Galaxy” was a very creditable 10th overall in a competitive field of young ladies. Tom McCann had a flyer for Super Nova.....and last but not least the veteran men....well they were just too busy placing bets on the 4 teams’ finishing order...there was some funny business going on and just when Mawdsley (alias Ladbrooks) stood to lose a bob or three! ...he was saved with a mis-punch (and since that’s pretty rare for poor Jim well one just can’t help being a tad suspicious).  Joking aside “Mars” and “Mercury” orbited their courses on first leg with only 10 seconds between them and Chris Rostron, currently in noticeably good form, made sure “Pluto” was not left out in the cold meanwhile “Jupiter” just kept going to take the MDOC bronze medal.

Bring on the BOC relays and make sure you get your hinds and behinds in shape and prepare to hoof it over the fell. J....and let’s just hope we are not starting straight up a big hill in full view!!!!!

Vicky and Andy

(PS You will all be incredibly interested to learn that the W40 BOC team has changed it’s name from “MDOC Musks” to “MDOC Springboks” as it was pointed out to me that it’s better to be regarded as a ***** deer as opposed to a smelly one!  Any changes to BOC teams –eg names or leg order should be emailed to me prior to ‘the races’.)
