The third Countryside Score of 2019 is next week and returns to a venue used before, both for a summer score event and a night street league.
Unlike Lower Peover the area next week will have hills. Most of the footpaths are well established and when I was checking the area, there wasn't much livestock around and what there was were sheep rather than cows. There are 2 canals in the area for those who want flatter running.
The venue for the night is
The Crown
1 Hawk Green Rd
Marple
Stockport
SK6 7HU
If you want to eat, please look at the menu on the pub website and let us know by Sunday 23rd June to ensure you get what you want, otherwise it's pot luck with what they have on the night.
Registration from 6.30 and start at 7.00 pm.
Run for 60 or 90 minutes and find as many of the checkpoints as possible using an extract from an OS Map, footpaths, lanes and quiet roads, answering simple questions at each checkpoint.
To reserve a map (very strongly advised this) please mail us here on Score2019@mdoc.org.uk
More info is posted here. Parking is at the pub and in the surrounding streets, if you use these please park considerately.
Return to the pub within your chosen run time to avoid penalties and then compare routes with other runners.
Under 16s must be accompanied. Dogs must be on leads please.
PLEASE - if you come across livestock, even if they are on a footpath, be prepared to slow to a walk and avoid scaring them.
