Under supervision of the Environmental Program Manager I (Supervisory) within the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Native Plant Program and in a temporary position, the incumbent will:
- Assist with the preparation and issuance of Scientific, Educational and Management Permits for state-listed rare, threatened and endangered plants. Maintain a database of Scientific,
Educational, and Management Permits for state-listed plants. Correspond with permit applicants and permittees. Monitor and track permit compliance and send out compliance reminders.
- Perform routine office tasks that include data entry, file organization, scanning documents, consolidation of botanical records and permits, preparation of various recommendations
and reports, preparation of correspondence, and other duties as assigned.
- Research topics related to native plant conservation and draft and maintain content for program webpages.
- Research and respond to requests for information from the public, from within the department, and from other organizations. Monitor the Native Plant Program’s general e-mail address.
- Assist with rare plant monitoring and the collection of botanical field data which may require hiking long distances through hazardous terrain. Maintain field notes and other plant-related
data. Enter botanical field data into computer systems and assist with data analysis.
