Cal-IPC Workshop Travel Award for Underrepresented Professionals!

Award Description
The California Invasive Plant Council (Cal-IPC) is offering five $500 travel awards to conservation and land management professionals from underrepresented backgrounds to participate in our
“Planning Invasive Plant Management” Training Workshop at the Cal-IPC Symposium on October 15, 2019 in Riverside, California. This half-day workshop will provide attendees from across California with the tools to plan effective invasive plant management
that can be brought back and utilized in their organizations.
This award will cover travel costs and incidentals up to $500 to attend the Training Workshop. We encourage all attendees to also come to our annual Symposium (October 15–18, 2019). Awardees can register at

Who Should Apply?
Entry-level to mid-level professionals from underrepresented backgrounds in the conservation and land management community that do not have financial support from their employer to attend
are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have a strong desire and drive to grow as conservation professionals and a demonstrated need for this training to support organizational goals in invasive plant management.
Cal-IPC values the perspectives and experiences of underrepresented California conservation professionals and seeks to build organizational capacity and support individual professional

A resumé, CV or bullet point list including any experiences that support your commitment to this field and a current mailing address
Review Process and Selection Criteria
Applications will be reviewed by committee and applicants will be notified whether or not they have been selected for an award by
July 12, 2019. Awardees will be selected based on quality and appropriateness of response to listed questions in the cover letter, completeness of the application, and demonstrated applicability of training workshop (and Cal-IPC Symposium) to current
or future organizational work and professional development.
