Not as experienced as others here. But here is my simple report for the simplelists: I was observing from Syon Park, Isleworth, West London which has the best westerly horizon near to me. I visually observed the comet from 19:06 until 19:21 BST, this evening, 12 October 2024. At which point it disappeared into the tree line; about 5 degrees above the true horizon. A tail could be seen using 10x50 binoculars. I managed to take images with my Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max. The best of which is attached (unprocessed 19:20 BST). Kind regards, Shaun Taylor

I didn't see anything in the direction of the dust tail. It certainly doesn’t rate a spectacular billing yet, but should do better as it moves into a darker sky. I failed to see it the day before, when there was less cloud. > > Regards, > > Jonathan Shanklin > Cambridge > BAA Comet Section visual observations co-ordinator > https://www.ast.cam.ac.uk/~jds/ > > > This email and any attachments are intended solely for the use of the named recipients.
