Well done Jon, it is only fitting that the most experienced visual comet
observer in UK should be amongst the first  in the UK to see this
comet.Let us hope that his words come true and that it will get better
as it moves into a darer sky.

    On October 12.75 I was lucky with a cloud break in Cambridge and
estimated the magnitude at approximately 0.3 (corrected for extinction)
in 8x40B, with a short tail in the expected  pa for the ion tail. I
didn't see anything in the direction of the dust tail. It certainly
doesn’t rate a spectacular billing yet, but should do better as it moves
into a darker sky. I failed to see it the day before, when there was
less cloud.
