The BAA Comet Section was set up in 1891 with Denning as Director. As
the 13th director since Denning I am now in charge of the section's
archives. We have material going back to the late 1930s.
Given that my ability to predict the performance of current comets is
pitiful I have decided it is much safer to look back on them from a safe
distance. Tonight's BAA webinar is a brief journey through some of the
interesting items in the archive. I'll include a letter from Brian
Marsden discussing the merits of FORTRAN as a programming language, a
letter from Bernard Lovell asking for help with comet imaging, Harold
Ridley's predictions for Comet Kohoutek and much more.
You can join the webinar on Zoom using this link:

or watch on our Youtube channel:

The webinar starts at 7pm BST (1800 UTC) and is open to all. I'll be
talking for 20 minutes or so and we will then open up for questions.
Denis Buczynski will be joining me for that part
Nick James, Director BAA Comet Section.
