Ronan,

The total magnitude of C/2019 Y4 (ATLAS) is currently around 8.7 or so.
The magnitude of the inner coma is much fainter, I get around mag 13.5
in an 11 arcsec radius.

The developments on C/2019 Y4 (ATLAS) are very similar to the last time
we saw this happen in early April. Prior to being able to resolve the
fragments we saw that astrometry was biased tailward. Up until two days
ago astrometric residuals for this comet were well under an arcsecond.
They are now 3 arcsec offset in the direction of the tail.

You can see the latest C/2020 F8 (SWAN) lightcurve on COBS here:

https://www.cobs.si/analysis2?col=comet_id&id=1876&start_date=2020/04/01%2000:00&end_date=2020/06/30%2000:00&plot_type=0&perihelion=1&fit_curve=1&obs_type=3

It will be a difficult comet to observe from our latitudes since it will
probably be only around mag 4, very low down in bright twilight. All the
really impressive images you will have seen were taken when the comet
was quite high in a dark sky. It is definitely worth a try though since,
with comets, you never know what you will see until you go and look.

Peter/Richard - Thanks for taking the effort to image Y4 tonight.

Nick.
